Last successful login for root

Hi Gurus,

When i am login in my one server, i am getting below message, but in other server this message is not coming. plz help.

Last successful login for root: Mon Jun 8 19:20:03 IST-5:30 2009
Last unsuccessful login for root: Mon Jun 8 12:34:17 IST-5:30 2009

Plz tell me i can set this configuration so the LAST sucessfull & unsuccessfull login message will come.

Look in the appropriate login scripts: /etc/profile, ~/.*rc, .profile, .dtprofile, whatever. It has to be something that someone added in the past.

... this is no standard message, so check your login scripts like Pete mentioned.

Actually it is. I believe it has to do with whether or not the system is trusted.

I think you will find that the server that does get this message is set up as trusted.

The other server is probably not set up as trusetd.

For mine, it occurs on an untrusted 11.31, before the stuff in /etc/profile.

In 11.23

for trusted serverss,
I get those messages

for un-trusted servers, I get
Last login: Sun Jun 7 07:36:12 2009 from 10.200.209.23

See "DISPLAY_LAST_LOGIN" in
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60130/security.4.html

Look at your /etc/default/security file.
