MCA error in syslog file

I occasionally get the following error in my /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file:

diaglogd[2117]: The disk space required to write the MCA logs at /var/tombstones is lessthan 500MB. The space avaialble is may not be adequate for writing the MCA error logs. There might be a potential MCA error data loss if this condition persists.

Is this anything to be concerned about? I'm also concerned about the misspellings and grammatical errors. :)

Shalom,

Yes be concerned with this.

You need more space in /var or you need these logs written to another location.

Don't be concerned about mispelling and grammar errors in error messages. They are not written by normal humans.

By all means, if you have a support contract report them to the Response Center.

Re: MCA error in syslog file

Freeing up /var space seems to do the trick.

Re: MCA error in syslog file

I found the error text that is posted in your syslog is in the /usr/sbin/stm/catalog/C/HP-UX_B.11.23/sys/diaglogd.cat file on my 11.23 itanium server. On my server the three typos ("lessthan", "avaialble", "logs. There") do not exist. You probably need to upgrade the diagnostics software on your server.
Also see if you can clean up in /var. It has probably under the 500MB of free space, hence the error.
