Re: MP Login.
MP stands for Management Processor, which is the previous GSP (Guardian Service Processor) usually used for connecting on console but also for many other purposes.
You'll find GSP or MP depending on the model on which you work.
In order to have a list of MP commands consult the following link:

Fabio

Re: MP Login.
MP is management Processor , a server can be controlled from a remote location:
That menas it can be powered on and powered off , can be rebooted remotely. Also there are many other functions available, you can monitor each and every parts of the server , you can check the log files , can get temparature warning, fru failure alerts.
MP is a RJ45 Ethernet port connected on the back side of the server and isolated from the OS lan interface(s).
Once the MP /GSP configured it can be reachable on the network , any one can log into the MP using Admin/Oper/Service etc, user name and password and can do necessary maintenance.
Cheers,
Raj.

Re: MP Login.
Also you can loginto the Host operating system from MP Console:
1. Use a local Terminal connected to the MP Serial port or Telnet to MP IP . --> Use MP username / password i.e Admin/Admin to log into the MP.
2. at MP prompt press CO Enter.
3. You will get OS login prompt:
4. Use OS username/Password to login to hp-ux.
5. Now you are at OS console.
6. tty will print /dev/console
For further : check out :Service Processor (GSP/MP) User Guide:

Re: MP Login.
>> What are all tasks we can perform using mp console....
Answered above, with focus on simple console emulation. The mp may also well have a web interface for monitoring and control.
>> Is this console is available in all servers......
more or less recent PA-risc systems and all Itanium systems.
>> Is there any relationship between mp and OS..?
NO. The MP gets you to EFI which get you to a masss storage device (disk, CD, USB stick...) which get you to the OS.
Now that you know this, you'll have to ask this question in a hardware/server forum, instead of HPUX. Good thing you did not know! :-)
Hein.
