Mail not sending emails

Hi!

I have a fedora 11 but I am unable to send any any emails through command line.

mail -s "subject" xx@yahoo.com < filename

The command executes but I dont get the email in my yahoo account.

What could be the problem and how to fix it.

Thanks,
Allan.

Not a very complete description.

Its a long list, with little information to
work with.

How were you expecting this system to send
e-mail? Is it connected to (and known on)
the Internet itself, or should it be passing
e-mail to some other e-mail-routing system
within your organization?

Are you running sendmail on this system?

There must be dozens of old threads on this
forum related to sendmail configuration.

Thanks Steve for taking the time to reply to my post.

I found the solution to what I was looking for here -

You found _a_ solution, not _the_ solution.
(And probably, in some ways, not the best
solution, but it's hard to be sure with so
little information to go on.)
