Memory Bottleneck issue

Hai ...

One of my server loaded with 11iv23 os (rx 6600)
is showing continuous memory bottleneck warning in the HP -Openview operations,

What all things that i have to check in the OS level to resolve this problem?

Please mention if any scripts available for the same.here i am not using glance tool.

Is there any log file generated for the same in the server os.

Re: Memory Bottleneck issue

Hi,

First on foremost you want to make sure OpenView is correct in its warnings.

- How much memory is there? And how much do you think should reasonably being used. Processes, Oracle-SGA, ...

- Are there any user complaints?

- Was it happy for a while and then started complaining, or did it always complain? What changed? (more users, additional DB, DB tuning?)

Me, I would doublecheck with vmstat, and swapinfo, what usage it. You may want to add some 'top' number and ipcs -m to see where the memory might be going.

Try and find, and read, a recent version of the "HP-UX Performance Cookbook By Stephen Ciullo and Doug Grumann". http://h21007.www2.hp.com/portal/download/files/unprot/devresource/Docs/TechPapers/UXPerfCookBook.pdf
It pretty much defines the memory bottleneck rule.

Hope this helps some,
