MirrorDisk/UX using dissimilar speed disks

Can a 146GB/10Krpm SCSI disk be mirrored to a 146GB/15Krpm SCSI disk? Must they both have the same rotational speed or can we mirror the 10k rpm to a 15k rpm of the same size?

Re: MirrorDisk/UX using dissimilar speed disks

Hi,

You can mirror different rpm disk. It is upto the controller to take care of write operations. Only thing system to wait till the low rpm disk write operation complets.

Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Yes this will work OK, the system will run at the speed of the slower disk.

Hi Don,
Yes. I quit Unisys in 1987 and been with Arrow since.
BTW, Herb Entenberg's son, Barry, is an Arrow Sales Mgr in MD. Good to connect to the past!
