Missing device files of Tape Library on Linux System

Dear Experts,
Some device files are missing for HP Tape Library on our production system RHEL.

some log messages reported on this server

From May 27th onwards we are unable to take the backups using Data protector.

I have executed rescaning of hpscan -a utility but haven't worked.

Kindly help me to solve this.

Hi,

When we start the backup or scaning using this server drive. The following error is reported.

[Major] From: MMA@oradb5 "Oradb5_LTO3_Drive2" Time: 6/8/10 1:07:52 PM
[90:54] /dev/nst1
Cannot open device (Invalid device file type.)

hi,

in this case i would check the zoning / physical conection and of course library and switch status

- if its possible to reboot the server, do it.

I have rebooted the server, now can able to see the device files.

Problem got resolved..
