Hi mjos,
Are you looking for this command?
# getconf MACHINE_MODEL
9000/800/rp3440
#
Or do you want to query the machine serial?
# getconf MACHINE_SERIAL
CE44160151
#
There is also a MACHINE_IDENT flag you can get with getconf:
# getconf MACHINE_IDENT
B3e15124463d65b23
#
For more info on valid parameters, see "man getconf"

Re: Model number for a ia64 hp server BL860c
I think you want to get the product number
Product Name: server BL860c
Product Number: AD323A <====
So does STM run now?
You can get this also from MP "display FRU" (df) command
...
BOARD INFO:
Mfg Date/Time : 0
Manufacturer : Celestica
Product Name : server BL860c system board
Part Number : AD217-60001
or simply read it from the pull out tab on the blade itself.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
