Monitoring MSA500 with NAGIOS

We have HP ProLiant DL380 G4 Packaged Cluster with MSA500 G2 and I need to monitor the MSA500 for not only HDD failure but also fan or PSU.

This (http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1273520258039+28353475&threadId=1262924) indicates check_hpasm plugin will help. But I found out that it only monitor the server but not the SAN.

I checked with HP support, hpaducli will generate HW report for the MSA500.

So two questions:
- any nagios plug-in which will check MSA500 hardware STATUS
- how can I incorporate hpaducli with nrpe?

Thanks!

A good source of Nagios plugins is http://www.monitoringexchange.org/. If there is no plugin to suit your needs, you can always write your own (and, perhaps, afterwards share it with others). In most cases Nagios plugins are just scripts or programs, that check something and return specific strings and exit codes. Please refer to http://nagiosplug.sourceforge.net/developer-guidelines.html for details on that.

nagios is a reporting tools. HP DL hardware is best monitored through HP PSP.

Shalom,

Nagios can be used to monitor mounted file systems, even device status. I have to agree though PSP has better tools for watching your MSA-500 disk array.

Re: Monitoring MSA500 with NAGIOS

found plug-in check_cciss. this monitors MSA500 array status, cache and battery. Not the fan. Should be enough
