Mount File System version 5 on JFS version 4

Hi,
we have a problem with a mount of File System vxfs version 5 [fstyp -v ] create on HP-UX 11.23, on a System HP-UX 11.11 with JFS 3.5 and vxfs version 4 [ fstyp ].
I'm thinking to upgrade my JFS product on hp-ux 11.11 from version 3.4 to version 4.1...is it possible ? If yes...What would I doing to make this operation ?

Thanks for helps

Shalom Filo,

The upgrade is a simple swinstall. Because it involves filesystems ie what your data is sittin on, you would be advised to back up everything before you start.

As to the problem, you can always mount a filesystem via NFS. You would have to post the error you get for me to determine if the upgrade is going to do you any good. I'd need to know how you are trying to do the mount and where the filesystem resides, though I could guess its on shared storage.

Re: Mount File System version 5 on JFS version 4

Thanks Steven,
I had to create a File system on hp-ux 11.23 version 5, and, through BC disks, we try to mount this file system on another system with hp-ux 11.11 to make a backup, without load a production server.
When I try to execute a fsck, I obtain this error:

vxfs fsck: unrecognized vxfs version number
invalid super-block
vxfs fsck: cannot initialize aggregate
file system check failure, aborting ...

Where can I find JFS Release 4.1 fot hp-ux 11.11?

You are going to need to turn the world around and build the filesystem on the earlier version then both your newer box and older box can mount the filesystem.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
