Mounting CD-ROM in HP-UX 11i V 3: Device busy

I have just installed an HP-UX 11i v3 from the DVD onto the RX6600.
Anytime I try to mount a CD-ROM, it says at the command prompt DEVICE BUSY.

Please help.

A real or virtual media? What kind of media? Are you currently in the mount target directory with any shell?

Hope this helps!

I restarted the server to make sure no process is locking the DVD-RW device.
I inserted a banking application CD-ROM
I did ioscan -fnC disk
I try to mount the device file of the DVD-RW to an empty directory I created
the reply was: Device Busy.

Please help !

Maybe the cd-rom is exported to a client. Check other servers to figure out whether it is still mounted over there.

No export.
It is a fresh installation and the internal DVD RW of the server.
Are there any processes blocking it ? It is HP-UX 11i V 3

Hi,

can you give us the output of 'pwd'?
Also can you post the mount command?

Whoa! That's a pretty extreme demand.

Noise in /etc/fstab could also cause trouble
(depending on the actual "mount" command, of
course).
