My new HP-UX server with SSD EVA

I am the Sys Adm for a small HP-UX shop and I am about to get the ideal HP-UX system with RX8640 all CPUs loaded (some iCap), 128Gb memory and an 1Tb EVA SSD DA (we already have a 4Tb EVA DA(148Gb/15K drives). I wanted to ask how you would configure the memory, swap and disk for my environment? The SSD DA is new to me and not sure what system resources should go on it. I have a 400Gb database and the indexes are a separate lv at 75GB with read access around 90%.

My questions are:
What is the best config for the SSD? Would you Raid it and if so, how? Do you strip SSD lv's across the 4 disk controllers?

What data would you suggest puting on the SSD? Any "system" directories? Swap?

What can I do with the 128Gb of memory to better accent the SSD? Currently only using 20Gb

Thanks ahead for all of your suggestions,
Don

Shalom Don,

In general the more controllers and disks the better. A lot depends on the application. If its write intensive, a RAID 1 type setup will work better.

No answer.

I would actually consider npar/vpar software and creating a vpar to to run this system that is sized appropriately in terms of memory and number of CPU. In this situation, I'd consider setting memory on the vpar to 24 GB, and swap to 12 GB.

Even if the customer owns the entire system the resource waste is pretty high.

If npar/vpar is not an option, consider increasing the size of cache for the application.
