NIS login issue

Dear All,

In one of the hpux 11.31 nis client not able to login using nis user account. But when login as a root the client and do su - username it will login but when we run "who" command it will not display the username who logged in.

Earlier I was getting error when i do su - username as root was getting error like "su NO SHELL" then I have changed the permission of /usr directory, now that error gone.

P.S : /usr dir is nfs mount from different server

FYI : other clients are working perfectly fine IA & PA flavours

Thanking u all in advance

Try a local mounted f/s for $HOME if this works look into setting a local HISTFILE file and allow $HOME to be nfs mounted ... any better ?

see http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Networking/NIS-NFS-Users-window-hangs-when-opened/m-p/5031593#M51658

it says invalid password, but password is fine as I can able to login with same user to other client

I assume the password doesn't have "#" nor "@"?
