NIS server question on NIM master

Hi Guys

I'm devising a plan to configure NIS server and it's clients so user management can be controled by a master node only....

My question is can I use my existing NIM server to configure that as a master NIS server ???

further to my email, can we actually make my existing unix machine as NIS server so users can be replicated to it's clients etc ? instead of considering nim server ?

What's a "NIM server"? Something to do with
AIX? Anything to do with user authorization?

With my weak psychic powers, I don't know
much about "my existing unix machine" or what
it can or can't do.

Doesn't "uname -a" work there? It does on my
AIX system.

It's not proof, but I can't think of a good reason why an AIX system couldn't be an NIS
master server. Of course, I also know
nothing about any of the prospective client
systems.

I'm

While you're out there, see if you can find
the page which explains how to ask a
technical question.

For example:

Its advice is not perfect, but it's better
than nothing.
