NTP Reference?

Hello,

Can anyone recommend any good online references for NTP. I want to learn more about how it works and how to configure it for good performance.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: NTP Reference?

Actually you have a rather good one much closer than you know. Look in /usr/share/doc/NTP_Primer.txt; it's quite good. Also, there is quite a bit of errata in /etc/ntp.conf as delivered from HP.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: NTP Reference?

NTP is overseen by this federal gov't. agency: NIST. National Institute for Standards and Time.

Re: NTP Reference?

Hi Bob:

Chapter-7 of "Installing and Administering Internet Services" provides a good discussion of 'ntpd' implementation for HP-UX.

For a list of external sources from which to derive correct time, and for other, general information see here:

Re: NTP Reference?

You've got the reference to HP doc, that's good for basic "know-how". For more technical details and its various implementation this may help ..
