1. Navisphere - is so do I need hp-ux agents
2. SnapView - If I want bcv's - is there agents for hp-ux or is this done from Navisphere
3. Powerpath - Do I need Agents for hp-ux


Final Question - any know approxiamete prices for the above

That was my answer - the guy I work for want me to put together a list of everything I need - fact is without talking to emc I don't know - crazy

You will need all of the above. Navisphere is kind-of optional but a really nice to have when you query servers from the EM C management stations, it gives you some real good data. Powerpath, definitely. Even if you are old XP1024 or others user with securepath, PowerPath is much superior multipathing software, I was told by our SAM admins. Snapview, if you are going to do snaps, you have to have it.

Bottomline, you will need all of the above.

SAM admins ? Sorry it should have read rather "SAN" admins. Unfortunate placement of N and M keys and fast typing handicap...

Hi,

if you want connect a HP-UX to the clariion,
you need to install naviagent, and if you need make some operation directly from the box, navicli ( now naviseccli ).

Powerpath is cool software, but only with a EMC products, from a version 5, doesn't support other vendor products ( hitachi/HP ... ), checked in december 2008, maybe somebody in EMC made a change in Support policy => Check support on powerlink.emc.com

On our production SAP cluster, we don't use powerpath now, switch to PV links, powerpath doesn't support Hitachi box.

3, powerpath don't need any agent, after installation is the kernel rebuild required = reboot.
