Re: Not able to access the console

And cpus are allocated fully for vpars.
No cpu is available. If i remove one cpu i can able to control the vpars through MP console. For that to i have down one of the vpar to get control and change the cpu.
But in our case all the cpus to be allocated.

Please help me to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Re: Not able to access the console

Hi,

What i understand that your vPar is booting...now you check the logs from Main Menu>SL>t.

or you can check status from VFP also.

Re: Not able to access the console

Hy are u using vpars on a pa-risc platform ??

if you are using them on the pa-risc you have to take in account that one of the vpars has to have the typical lba 0/0/0 assigned to a parttion otherwise you wan't have control of the console.

please post a vparstatus -A so we can check, if you have io not assigned.

also your vpar kernel monitor could be frozen, but you would need a reboot of the hole npar for that ...

Windows?, no thanks

Re: Not able to access the console

The OS is 11.11 so it must be PA-RISC.

From the manual:

...
CAUTION: (A.03.xx only) The first virtual partition that you create must own the LBA (local
bus adapter) that contains the physical hardware console port. For an example, see ├в Assigning
the Hardware Console LBA├в (page 57).
...

Please check this!

Since you have a sx2000 based server, note this (from the manual):

"...
CAUTION:
vPars Console Assignment on sx2000-based Servers The console UART for sx2000-based
servers is no longer on a PCI card, and the system console is memory mapped and moved to
PDH. Hence, there is no LBA component for the console to be assigned to a virtual partition.
Thus, for sx2000-based servers, youmust assign the console by hardware path to a virtual partition
by performing the following steps. For sx2000-based servers running vPars A.03.xx, the console
hardware path must be assigned to the first virtual partition created.
..."

See page 58 in HP-UX Virtual Partitions Administrator├в s
Guide

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
