Not able to change password

Hi All

I am trying to change the password of a user in a trusted system. It is giving me the following error and not allowing me to change password.
# passwd in727199
Last successful password change for in727199: Wed Jul 19 10:58:22 2006
Last unsuccessful password change for in727199: Wed Jul 19 10:18:53 2006

passwd: not allowed to run passwd
#
Suspecting a problem with password file in tcb direxctory , i removed the user and added again. But no improvement. Can anybody suggest me why this problem is?
Thanks
S.O

There may be a corruption issue.

Also check if the root filesystem is full, that can cause this.

Re: Not able to change password

What's your password policy?

what does: usr/lbin/getprpw "user_name"
report.

Do a 'Man getprpw' and note the lockout reason.

Can you create a new user account for the fellow and does that work?

Re: Not able to change password

Hi all,
It is correpted paswd files in TCB.
Converted to untrusted and again back to trusted. Now it is working fine.
Thanks for all your replies.

Re: Not able to change password

This error happens if none of the options for password selection is enabled for that user (pronounceable password, string of letters, pick your own password, etc.).
As with other trusted mode attributes, per-user attributes override system defaults if present. See the section 4 man pages for default and prpwd. Unfortunately the prior settings for most of these get lost if you convert out of trusted mode, so it's hard to tell after the fact exactly what was originally wrong.
