Npar & Vpar

Hi All,

I had a change, to replace a memory in Cell board, But i am too new to Superdome enviornment. Could you please let me know, whether i need to shutdown whole cabinet or that partiuclar cell on i can power off.

Few idea that i am having is to shutdownt the nPar, We need to shutdown all vPar, then how to proceed i am not aware..can you please help me out.

I sure as heck would schedule a downtime for this even if it could be done hot.

I would not want my hand in a hot machine running production.

This should be a task to be performed by qualified HP support people!

However, the whole nPar must be down, unless you have online cell replacements supported.

For nPar systems like a superdome this is pretty normal...

Hi,

if you have bad memory in a floating cell, then you can replace it by unassigning it and after memory replacement, reassign it to the partition. Else, you must need to down the npar to replace the memory.

Actually the procedure in our enviornment is to create the Implementation plan to replace a memory, once the nPar is down, Hp engineer will replace memory and then again we need to bring whole npar & vPar Up

The plan is to shutdown all the vPars and power off the nPar.
