OS Issue

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1367385

This is related to the above :

I have 11.23 on my rx server. Not sure if it is on the internal drive or external drive in the enclosure..

I have Installed 11.31, but this got installed on the external drive. But I want this OS to sit on the internal drive...

I can do a fresh install on the Internal drive again.... But I would like to know If there is any other way to handle this Issue.

Re: OS Issue

If you have the MirrorDisk software, you can mirror to the internal drive, which I believe was suggested in your other thread.

Re: OS Issue

I think in your other posting you should have asked "how do you change the boot path or boot disk during OS installation" or how do you select a specific disk to install the OS".

You have to tell us what rx server you have and how the disks are connected. This is reflected in the hardware path that look like this 0/0/1/0/0.6.0 (as an example).

You select the disk where to install the OS very early in the installation process, right after you boot from the DVD install media.

Re: OS Issue

TTr is right!

Usually , if you are selecting paths like what TTr said, it is usually a internal drive.

SAN disks have long paths like :
0/1/2/0.124.15.19.0.0.0

If you wnat to fresh install - you can. You can also mirror it to the internal drive and break the mirror from the SAN.

Re: OS Issue

use DRD, clone the external 11.31 drive to the internal one (provided it is big enough, then activate the clone.

Re: OS Issue

ioscan -e will give you the EFI ACPI address for each device.
Mirrordisk is not needed here, use DRD, it is free with both 11iv2 and 11iv3
