OS Restore - Itanium to PA-RISC

Hello Everyone,

I'm guessing the answer to my question is no, but just to verify. Is it possible to restore an ignite OS backup from an Itanium Server to a PA-RISC server?

The reason is because the only test server I have is a PA-RISC, which is where i usally test OS backups from different servers once a month. But as more and more servers are migrated to Itanium the less and less servers I can test.

FYI: This is only for test purposed, to make sure OS backups are good.

its depend on wich model do you like to restore.

Its possible to install 11.23/11.31 on PA-RISC machines, but you need to have a firmware updated to minimimal required versions.

and also the 11.23/11.31 must be able to recognise your HW.

That's correct, you can't do this since the architectures are different.

You can restore individual files/directories from the pax archive.

The OS itself is for Itanium or RISC only.

You can restore data, but not the OS.
