PSP 7.70 and Proliant Firmware 7.80?

Greetings,

I have recently upgraded the firmware (BIOS, NIC, Array, etc) on two proliant systems to v7.80 using the Proliant Firmware Upgrade CD. Afterwards, the System Management Homepage v2.1.7 (found in the Proliant Support Pack v7.70 or v7.80) does not correctly pull data from the insight manager daemons running. The boxes are all purple with no data being collected for anything, as well HP Insight Diagnostics not working. Has anyone seen this?

This is running on Red Hat ES 2.1. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling all PSP RPMs, running '/etc/rc.d/init.d/hpasm reconfigure,' as well as running '/perl /usr/local/hp/hpSMHSetup.pl.' I can verify the daemons are collecting data because the hpasmcli and hpilmview programs work.

Shalom Daniel,

Which update of the OS are you using. HP didn't support every update and you may need to get your system to a supported level for this to work properly. These programs are very picky.

Are you not also concerned that ES 2.1 is out of support?

I don't know the exact update, but they have very recent packages on there. The point is that SMH worked before the firmware upgrade and didn't afterwards.

I talked to HP and they advised they only support PSP 7.30, which I'm willing to try. However, I'm also willing to forego having the system management homepage and just use the command line tools, but I would like to verify that traps are still getting sent out for problems on the machine. Is there any easy way to test this? Unfortunately, the machine in question does not have the redundant power supply option, so I'm unable to simply pull one out to generate an alert.

I'm aware that Red Hat 2.1 is under maintenance support, but it's very difficult to upgrade our servers in the environment they are in.
