Performance of DNS Bind 8.2.5
Hi,
I have two really old DNSs. I wrote the command uname-a to get details about the hardware (dont know if it is enough for you guys):
HP-UX dns1 B.11.00 A 9000/800 2012033840 two-user license
Can anyone tell me the performance of this DNS Bind-release? Like, the amount of transactions per second or something. Can anyone compare Bind8.2.5 to Bind 9.x?
Thanx in advance
Regards,
Paul

Re: Performance of DNS Bind 8.2.5
BIND named performance is a function of the BIND release, OS release, AND hardware (host and NIC), so as stated, the question cannot be answered :) There may be data to assist in some guesstimation for caching servers in the writeups at
