Same as with any other OS?

1. Bad hardware.
2. Bad software.
3. Bad system administration.

Is there some actual problem which you are trying to solve?

Depending on what your definition of corrupt means, I would look at the following:

Was the file ftp'd incorrectly?  Was there not enough space?  Was it ftp'd as ascii when it should have been binary?

Was the file created with control characters in it when it shouldn't have been?  I see this when an application person creates a file in Windows and ftp's it to Unix.

We have sap application running on HPUX 11.31 and SSFS file in SAP was  unreadable by databases and application after which we have to restore the file from backup.

Changes made were server were rebooted 1 week back.

Done housekeeping of the filesystem where is file is located.

I know nothing about SAP or an SSFS file, but...

What, exactly, does "was unreadable" mean here?  Did some operation
fail in some way (with some error message)?

Ok.  Did that reboot follow a clean shutdown (of SAP and the OS), or
did you lose power (in the middle of a file write?), or what?

I don't know what "housekeeping of the filesystem" means to you.

Given no useful information, I doubt that anyone here will be able to
tell you what happened to your file, or how to prevent it from happening
again.
