Printer Location

What is the significance of the Printer Location? I created a new network device and have the name mapped correctly in the etc/hosts file but I see an error in the location.

How does the system use location? I'm just trying to measure the need to correct this.

No significance for the system. It's just an informational field that is displayed by the lpstat command. The sysadmin can use to document where the printer is physically located, e.g. "Room 603".

If you have many printers, even in several different buildings, this would help the users to find the correct print queue.
