Yes. The spooler was started using command lpsched only.
Is there a specific list of spooler patches that needs to be added?

There is no way to tell without analyzing what you have now.
The spooler depends on disk and filesystem code, networking, and spooler code. Any one of more of these may need to be updated. Go to the HP support Center and run an analysis of your system to see what patches are needed.
