Printing problem from apps side
i configured one Epson LQ 590 on hp-ux 11.23 box, the printer is working fine from unix side. But am not able to take the print out from the apps side, is it becasue of the driver we configured on unix level or something wrong with the unix configuration. It is a network printer connected via jetdirect card.

Re: Printing problem from apps side
If the printer is able to print from unix side, then there is no issue with printer or unix.
Normally applications will have it's own configuration file, where you need to mention the printer name or queue name and printing attributes. Have you checked with application people on this?
Sometime application will pool directly to the default printer on unix. Just check if the printer needs to be configured as default printer.

Re: Printing problem from apps side
There is no printer driver in HP-UX. Since you said the printer works from the unix side, I am assuming that you can run this command:
lp -depsonprn /etc/profile
and it prints a normal page with /etc/profile. That means the printer is installed properly. But what is the error message when you say "not able to take the print out from the apps side"? Or do you mean that something is printed but it is not formatted as expected?

Re: Printing problem from apps side
Error means what ever we are printing from unix side means suppose if we are sending a print request like lp -d Printqueue /etc/profile it is comming perfectly, when the user sending print request from oracle apps , it is always printing as 1,2,3,4 ..... ie o/p will be always 1,2,3,4 ....

Re: Printing problem from apps side
which would indicate that the printer as defined / installed in HPUX is fine. The problem lies in the Oracle printer definition. How *that's* corrected, I know not.

Re: Printing problem from apps side
I don't see any difference, but as mentioned, Oracle must be specifically configured for every printer model. Unlike Windows, there is no printer metalanguage between the app and the printing subsystem. You must configure Oracle to use the LQ 590 (if it is supported).
