Problem Save/Restore Spooler Configuration HPUX 11.23/11.31

Hello,

I create Printer on a new server with
Save/Restore Spooler Configuration .

I have now a problem, when i want to Restore on HPUX 11.31 from a HPUX 11.23 server.

Following moving system i made :

HPUX 11.23
- stop lpsched
- cd /var/spool/lp
copy outputq pstatus qstatus request seqfile
to HPUX 11.31
- 'SAM'
Printers and Plotters
LP Spooler
Save Spooler Configuration
- copy /var/sam/lp/lpinfo to HPUX 11.31

HPUX 11.31
- stop lpsched
- check if printer exist
- Restore Spooler Configuration
'SAM or SMH'
Printers and Plotters
LP Spooler
Restore Spooler Configuration
- start lpsched

i used this system many,many times (moving printer from HPUX 10.20 => HPUX 11.00 / 11.11 / 11.23, HPUX 11.i => HPUX 11.23) and it works.

but now i can't change status of "not accepting":

lpstat -a
not accepting requests since Jun 12 14:57 -
new destination

printer queue for

Windows LPD Server
Printer \\176.17.4.17\

Owner Status Jobname Job-Id Size Pages Priority
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
: Warning: queue is turned off

how can i change status ?

Hi,

have you checked the SCHEDLOCK file.After shuting down the lpsched it should be removed.
After restarting the lpsched it is again restarted.

SCHEDLOCK disappears after "lpshut" and will created with following permission:

ll /var/spool/lp/SCHEDLOCK
-rw-r----- 1 lp lp 0 Jun 12 16:11 /var/spool/lp/SCHEDLOCK

Test-Print has following error:

lp -d file
lp: can't accept requests for destination "" -
new destination

Hi,

check with

lpstat -a

the acceptance status of your queue.

To enable acceptance of print jobs do:

accept printer

hello,

I solved the problem. a document of hp shows a possible solution . I created a "test" printer and i had also the problem " not accepting requests" , "accept" printer didn't solve the problem. so i removed and installed "PrinterMgmt". Now it works .
Also following step works:

HPUX 11.23:
- Save Spooler Configuration
HPUX 11.31:
- Restore Spooler Configuration
