Problem downloading patches - format bug

I am downloading patches and no matter what format I choose when saving them, .zip, .tar, .tgz and so on, it always saves them in .zip format.

That's a problem as hpux 11.23 does not come with unzip!!!!

Anybody care to address this bug?

This is on 11.23 Itanium machine running default Mozilla that came with it.

Thank you, I have downloaded unzip and will put it on systems, but I wish the bug would get fixed.

Re: Problem downloading patches - format bug

I saw the same behavior when I downloaded a
set of Tru64 patches. I sent an ITRC
feedback message which apparently was handled
by someone for whom English was a problem:

========

This would work as described. If you have any issues or questions please
let me know.

========

A reply to that response got this:

========

Hello,

Hewlett-Packard recongizes that Nov 23th-24th, 2006 is an HP Recognized =
Holiday, and will not be responding to emails at that time. You emails =
wll be responded to starting January 4th, 2005.

Best regards,

HP ITRC Web Support Team

========

And that was the last that I heard about it.
As the HP ITRC Web Support Team didn't seem
to have a good grasp on what year it is, I
figured that further efforts along these
lines would not be productive, so I gave up.

Perhaps when January 4th, 2005 rolls around
again...

Re: Problem downloading patches - format bug

Is there not an option for just downloading a download script to your system. Then you can run that script from your HP box which will then download the patches that you require without having to deal with zip, tgz, etc. I remember having the same problem as you and that is what I did to get around it.

Re: Problem downloading patches - format bug

I have seen this in the past. What you have to do is:

1) BEFORE attempting to change the download format, make ABSOLUTELY SURE the page has finished loading.

2) After changing the download format to 'gzip' WAIT until the page finishes loading before clicking on the download link.

I have been impatient in the past and not let the page finish loading, which apparently generates the file you are going to download, and I have gotten a file in the incorrect format.

You MUST be patient when going through these pages and downloading the files.

Re: Problem downloading patches - format bug

Yes, as Patrick stated above was the exact reason that I was always dowloading .zip files as mentioned in my post. I couldn't remember, but when I saw his post it reminded me.

Re: Problem downloading patches - format bug

The problem appears to be fixed, I choose .tgz and it saved it as .tgz.
