Problem while adding a new user

Hello All,

I am getting below error while adding a user on my HP-UX server.

/etc/passwd file does not exist

Please suggest here. I have checked the passwd file & its correct with pwck. Does there can be configuration conflict with tcb files ?

Thanks & regards,
Kavita

Hi,

1st check /etc/passwd file is there or not if passwd file exist then check the permissions it should be like below
# ll /etc/passwd
-r--r--r-- 1 root sys 7821 Feb 15 08:49 /etc/passwd

Hi,
Could you post the output

ll /etc/passwd
passwd username

Did you tried through SAM ? What is the error message you are getting?

Re: Problem while adding a new user

Hi Suraj,

Yes the problem has been resolved. It was related to Centrify which is an Active Directory keeping information for all accounts on a server in a centralized location.

Thanks & regards,
