Ask your EMC/SAN person:

Is the array an old 5000 Series!

Coz if IT IS -- then it is NOT FULLY supported under HP-UX 11.31

You are able to find out what are the cXtYdZ for each of the EMC LUN right?

Then do legacy devices in LVM sir.

Well, firstly -- DO you know LVM?
What do you want to do with these disks?

Do you have EMC's INQUIRE utility (tool named "inq" or emcinq or inquire).

This tool will tell you which cXtYdX points to the same EMC LUN. You can also rely on trating LUNS with the same size, tXdY and diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/cXtYdZ properties to ID them.
