Problems with locale and LANG

Hi, we're on a new server being customized and trimmed just now. rx2660 hp-ux 11iv3. We're using a text-based interface with Reflection for HP 8.0, but when we enter the national characters, the wrong characters are displayed. I have configured LANG=da_DK.roman8. (is displayed in locale -a) in .profile and in /etc/rc.config.d.
In Reflection I may choose 'Host character set' (is set to HP Roman 8). Have tried another Term. emulator product, same issue, so I suppose the work must be done on the server.
Any suggestions are most welcome! TIA!

Re: Problems with locale and LANG

Shalom,

swlist -l product

Take a look and see what locales are installed on the OS side.

Is the behavior consistent if you for example use a Linux box in GUI mode and connect with ssh -X ?

Re: Problems with locale and LANG

I'd suggest you may want to start xfs(1) in this instance if the correct locale is installed on the unix server, to serve the font's to reflectionX (not expecting RX to ship with these).

Also may be worth tring an iso setting as opposed to Roman8 ?

Re: Problems with locale and LANG

SEB : Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not quite sure... I enclose the listing, and when searching for roman8 it seems to me that this is installed?

We only need the server for text-based applications, so not much is setup for the graphical world. If I, however, get into printer config via SMH, using the GUI through X, the national characters are displayed correctly!

Re: Problems with locale and LANG

Alex : We're not using Reflection X, since we need only a text-based interface. We're using Reflection for HP vers. 8.0. It is pretty old but has worked very well on a now retired HP9000 server...
But of course, if all else fails, we may consider upgrading Reflection, but hopefully this is not necessary, since vers. 8.0 works flawlessly, apart from the problem with the nat. characters.

I will try an ISO-setting, though...
