Proper manual steps to update kernel?

Hello all,
Just some clarifications please. We are using 11.11.
I read in "HP Certified" book the steps to manually rebuild the kernel:

cd /stand/build
/usr/lbin/sysadmin/system_prep -s ./system
edit the /stand/build/system file to correct the parameter the need changing
/usr/sbin/mk_kernel -s ./system
mv /stand/system /stand/system.
mv /stand/vmunix /stand/vmunix.
cp /stand/build/vmunix_test /stand/vmunix
cp /stans/buils/system /stand/system

I got to the point where I build the kernel without errors and started checkig the net to ensure I did not make errors.... where i found additional reference to "dlkm".
To properly install the new kernel, do I also have to do something like:

mv /stand/dlkm/ /stand/dlkm.vmunix.
cp -r /stand/build/dlkm.vmunix_test /stand/dlkm

Additionally, what is the proper way to use kmtune to replace all those move and copy commands?

I have always done the below.

cp /stand/system /stand/system.prev
edit /stand/system
mk_kernel
kmupdate

shutdown -r -y now

Yeah, I mistakingly typed kmtune instead of kmupdate at the end of my post.
