Protocols

How the following protocols can be used... I have gone through google and found what the protocol means but I was only wondering how these can be used in real time:-

SNMP, SMTP, LDAP, SFTP, HTTP, SMS

Also what is Provisio and how it can be used

Re: Protocols

Back are you.

SNMP - Simple Network Management Protocol - Used for monitoring servers, printers or any device that is SNMP enabled. HP's Openview product can use this to alert based on the type of SNMP events generated by the SNMP enabled device.

SMTP - Simple Mail Transport Protocol - It is what sends e-mail between e-mail servers.

LDAP - Lightweigh Directory Access Protocol - Can be used for login authentication for any LDAP capable server. Enables a "single sign-on" type capability for multiple servers.

SFTP - Secure FTP - Part of the Secure Shell suite (SSH) - Enables encrypted FTP between servers.

HTTP - Hypertext Transport Protocol - It is what powers the web. See the 'http://' in the address bar? Apache and IIS are "http" servers.
