Question about installation

I am trying to install ignite c.7.6 on 11.11 servers. When i issue the swinstall command, it gives me the following output:

IGNITE -> C.7.6.100 HP-UX Installation Utili ^ |
|| Ignite-UX-11-11 -> C.7.6.100 HP-UX Installation Utili |
|| Ignite-UX-11-23 -> C.7.6.100 HP-UX Installation Utili |
|| Ignite-UX-11-31 -> C.7.6.100 HP-UX Installation Utili

My question is that what is the difference between the first two entries in the list? Should I select the second entry in the list or select both the first and the second?

Re: Question about installation

The first is ignite server itself, the others are the boot related files (kernel ...) for each version.

If you want to setup ignite for 11.31 clients for example, you need the first and the last. But you can safely select all.

Hope this helps!

Re: Question about installation

Hi Wagar:

If you look at :

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/download.html

...you see that having all three components allow you to install clients of all three versions. Further, the recommedation is that "...you install the complete Ignite-UX product (IGNITE) unless you want to block the use of a specific version of HP-UX, increase the download speed, or conserve disk space on the server."

If you want only to install support for, for instance, 11.23, download the 11.23 variant only from the Ignite site. In this case, be sure to 'swremove' all earlier versions of Ignite first. I believe this is the basis for the companion question here:
