RCP attempts prompts for a password

HPUX 11.11 environment - Server A's .rhosts files allows me to rcp/rlogin to other HPUX machines with no effort, but i added another server to the file and I cant rlogin to it without going through the password prompt, etc. This server is on the same network as the other servers that are "rlogin-ready" Any suggestions?

Re: RCP attempts prompts for a password

You've got it exactly backwards.

SERVERA's .rhosts files allows you to login to SERVERA **FROM** other machines.

If you want to rlogin from SERVERA **TO** other machines, then you need to add SERVERA to the .rhosts file on those other servers.

# man rhosts

for details.

Re: RCP attempts prompts for a password

Sorry if I misspoke. On Server A and Server B, I have each other in the .rhosts files. Server B does allow me to rlogin to Server B, but I cant rlogin from Server A to Server B.

Can't see the system names.
Can't see what's in the ".rhosts" files.
Can't see the owner+group+permissions on the
".rhosts" files.
Can't see which user is doing the work.
Can't see the actual commands used.
