RHEL 5

I was able to get to the network before and since I have installed all xorg packages, I'm not able to get to the network anymore. Does installing any of the xorg packages can any network settings so that I;m not able to access the network anymore?

Re: RHEL 5

There was about 108 xorg packages. I needed to start in init5 so I just did a yum install xorg*.

Re: RHEL 5

No luck.

The network seemed to be working fine because I was able to get to rhn and download the X packages. It only be to start causing me issues aftee I installed the X packages. I am able to ping my gateway but as far as going outside, not able to anymore.

PInging to www.yahoo.con gives me destination unreachable.

Re: RHEL 5

I should also check the "/etc/resolv.conf" as you may not be able to correctly resolve the name. One peculular problem I have come across is if you are running vmware server as sometimes it seems to stop name resolution. To test this do a service vmware stop, and then try using "dig msn.com" to see if your DNS is operating correctly.
