RP3440 panic after system upgrade from 11v1 to 11v2 update-ux
We updated a rp3440 from hp-ux 11.11 to hp-ux 11.23 via update-ux. the update worked ok:
(1904 of 1906).
* Installing fileset "iCOD.ICOD-TCH-E-MSG,r=B.11.23.08.03.00.22"
(1905 of 1906).
* Installing fileset "iCOD.ICOD-TCH-U-MSG,r=B.11.23.08.03.00.22"
(1906 of 1906).
* Running install clean command /usr/lbin/sw/install_clean.
NOTE: tlremove is searching filesystem - please be patient

* Building the software file "/var/adm/sw/needs_config" to be
used for post-reboot "swconfig" execution. The information in
this file will be used as input to "swconfig" after the system
reboots.
* Summary of Execution Phase:
* 25 of 1931 filesets were Skipped.
* 1906 of 1931 filesets had no Errors or Warnings.
* The Execution Phase succeeded.
NOTE: Software requiring a reboot has been installed, but the kernel
build, reboot, and configure steps are being skipped because
those tasks are being done by the program that invoked
swinstall.
but after the reboot I get:

Re: RP3440 panic after system upgrade from 11v1 to 11v2 update-ux
Unfortunately this is why it is suggested in the ITRC forums you coldload to 11.23, not use update-ux. :-(
Somehow it is missing drivers for root?
You might want to contact the Response Center to see of they have some non-coldload solution to this update-ux problem?

Could I try booting from 11.23 Cd and installing a new vmunix kernel?

Re: RP3440 panic after system upgrade from 11v1 to 11v2 update-ux
I assume that's the same as a coldload. So if the Response Center has nothing better, you'll need to go with that.

Re: RP3440 panic after system upgrade from 11v1 to 11v2 update-ux
What I meant, is boot from the cd go in to the recovery cd and use:
r. Recover an unbootable HP-UX system
al try it out, just in case the problema I am having is that the kernel didn't compile ok

Re: RP3440 panic after system upgrade from 11v1 to 11v2 update-ux
IMHO both is not the problem here.
Can you do "hpux -lm" boot?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
