I might be bit blunder hereтАж But I am looking for a solution since long time. Now itтАЩs time to clarify with you all.
One of my HP-UX serer got rebooted.
1) The reason for the server reboot? ( Why the server rebooted suddenly)
I checked /etc/shutdownlog file, but no recent entry found.
OS:- HP-UX B.11.23 U ia64
Model:- ia64 hp server rx8620

Re: Reason for the server reboot
do you have a ts99 file (var/tombstones), if so please post it. (as atachment)
is you /etc/rc.old file is filled (dit it try to stop something?
is /var/adm/crash filled?
if so please read the text file (in the first 20 lines the cause can be given...)
is there a clue in /var/adm/syslog/O*
(old syslog.log)

SolutionBesides the good posts above,
Take a look at /etc/rc.log
This will give you some idea if its sudden or run normally with a shutdown -ry command.
See /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
It is interesting to see what happens right before such an event occurs.
