You don't need to back any files up for a simple reboot.
If you are rebooting because you changed stuff, you want to run an Ignite make_tape_recovery or make_net_recovery BEFORE your changes to insure you can back out.

take the output of below command for reference.
1.bdf >>bdf_ref
2.ioscan -fn >>ioscan_ref
3.netstat -in >>netstat_in.ref
4.netstat -rn >>netstat_rn.ref
5.dmesg >>dmesg_ref
6.ps -ef >>ps_ref
You can refer these outputs incase of any problem after system come up

If all this is in place, there should be no need for a special backup just because you are rebooting the server.
