Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

When I rebooted it runs through all it's reboot processes and I am left at the Console Login prompt. All the accounts including Root will not work for this login prompt. I type Root and hit Enter, then it waits a second and brings me back to the Console Login prompt. I usually access this machine through Putty and now I am unable to. The System LED is flashing yellow, Power LED green, and the LEDs 1-4 are off. I'm lost as to what my next action should be. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Brandon!!

My fellow itrc members will likely know a little more, but here's what I think:

You're at the MP login. The default login for the MP is Admin, with a password of Admin, (case sensitive...dont' forget the capital A.)

Once there, you should type 'co' for console, and hit return a couple of times. I suspect you're sitting at the BCH menu.
Should have been an astronaut.

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

Ron,

Thanks for your response. I just now tried using 'Admin' but when I type that in (with the capital A) and hit Enter, it brings back to the 'Console Login: ' prompt.

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

Hmmm...perplexing!! Can you ping the system?

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

No, PING is unsuccessful. It is puzzling. I did notice during the boot process it runs through all of its processes and says OK or Fail. One I noticed it failed on was 'Setting the hostname', which is probably why I cannot Putty in now.

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

are you pinging/puttying hostname or IP.
If hostname try IP.

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

I have tried both with no luck.

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

I think you have no choice but to reboot into single user mode.

Then check the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file
for hostname IP GW and subnet.

Also check /etc/hosts

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

I did forget to mention that I am somewhat new to UNIX Administration. Could you give brief instructions on booting in sigle-user mode? Thanks

Re: Rebooted HP Integrity rx2620

1.Reboot the system.
2.Interrupt the autoboot process when it asks to do so.
3.In main menu type bo pri
4.Press Y to interact with IPL
5.In ISL prompt give hpux -is to boot the system into single user mode
6.System will boot into single user mode.
