Recover root password

I am having HP-UX 11.11 installed on HP Integrity Server rx7640.
Unfortunately my root password is locked due to multiple tryouts with wrong password.
Now i want to recover the password; i am trying to connect to server's console port using Cisco console cable but it is not connecting. i think this cisco cable is not supported, so any advice from where i can get the console cable???

Hi Obaid,

U can try to connect with cable on lan port of MP that is console lan, can access the system, from that console.
U can try by serial console also on MP.

can you expalin a bit more ... like i can use straight ethernet cable and then use hyper terminal to connect to console.

Did you mean 11.31?

Hi,

U can use cable with serial port at both end,which connects to server and laptop then connect by hyper terminal.
Either U can use with lan port on one side and serial port on other side.
Which connects lan console port on server and serial port on laptop.

Apart from cable issue, after you got connection to console:

# run modprpw -k root

to unlock!
