Re: Recovery of deleted files from HP-UX

IF you have made a backup of these files, you can restore them from this backup.
There is no undelete in hp-ux.

good luck,

Hi,

Unix does not have recycle bin like windows. Only way is to restore from the backup.
Best wishes,

Re: Recovery of deleted files from HP-UX

Hi,
Once you delete any file from the system its DELETES forever from your system .If you want that file back then you have to restore from your previous backup.

Hello Nishamohan

the only option is to restore the files from backup .....

if you have networker install then try recover command and you can also use nwrecover for GUI of networker.

Re: Recovery of deleted files from HP-UX

as noted....recover files from backup (you've got one, right?).

recovery steps depend on backup software / database in use, and how the backup was taken.

Re: Recovery of deleted files from HP-UX

Shalom,

Out of the box, only CDE the X windows graphical interface has a trash can.

Unix and Linux have no built in recycling bin like Windows. This uses a lot of disk capacity, and creates overhead.

Without regular backups you have no recourse or recovery path.

"Hopes you have taken the backup of system.

well...thats correct *IF* he used fbackup. So far, there is nothing to indicate he's got one or what was used to perform it
