Re: Recoving root password with Veritas file systems

Shalom,

Recovering the root password and Veritas file system have nothing to do with each other.

You can not if forgotten recover the root password on an HP-UX system.

If locked, a console login will unlock it.

If lost or unknown:

Reboot
hpux -is

Boot Single user mode.

passwd

That will let you reset it.

If I misunderstand your question, let me know.

Re: Recoving root password with Veritas file systems

There's no difference with LVM/veritas, etc.

So the password recovery process is the same.

It also depends if you are running on standard mode or in a trusted system, the recovery process is different for each case.

Password recovery nothing to do with Filesystem.

- You can recover the root password by booting into single user mode:
PA RISC:ISL> hpux -is
Integrity :from HPUX> boot vmunix -is

and use: #/sbin/passwd root
(You can set a new root password here , assuming system is not trusted mode.)
