Replace mirrored root disk with same size but faster

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing my mirrored root disk with the same size disk but faster RPM.

Whats the best pain free way to do this?

Can i remove the alternate, replace with a newer drive and mirror the primary.

Then boot off the alternate and insert the second disk and repeat?

forgot to mention its an integrity system.

or can i just add the new disk as a additional mirror, and configure it to boot off?

Yeah i've got this document.

Just wanted to make sure its exactly the same as replacing a failed disc.

It would be the same as a failing attached disk (therefore you must either use pvchange or lvreduce).  MirrorDisk/UX does have the ability to mirror up to 3 disks, so that is another option for you as well.

Another option is DRD - Dynamic Root Disk.  This allows for the creation of a copy of your boot disk at the disk level (LVM mirroring is done at the LV level).
