SAN data migration

Our customer bought a new EVA4400 and a new Netapp FAS system. We have to move the data from the old EVA5000 to the new storage systems. to move the data between the EV A's we will use continuous access. Which methods can be uised to move data from the EVA5000 to the new Netapp FAS system?

Re: SAN data migration

Consider to use LVM/VxVM mirroring.

Hope this helps!

Re: SAN data migration

I think the above reply meant to add the new storage to your server and set the disks up as mirrors to the existing lvols. When the mirror syncing completes, you can then reduce the old disks out of the lvols. Do a mna on lvextend and lvreduce.

Of course that's just a personal opinion, what do I know...

Re: SAN data migration

Hello,

You might do better asking the question in the business support forums storage area
there are threads there dealing directly with NAS issues you will need to register for an HP passport ID as well if you do not already have one .
You should indicate how you have the data connected to windows at the moment. The last time we did something similar we ended up using backup and restore.

I hope this of some help

Re: SAN data migration

Hi

One more option to explore is filesystem level copy.

Use rsync to copy data from FS from EVA 5000 to FS from Netapp
