SCSI Addresses

Hi,

I'm trying to attached a 2120 Disk System to my rx2660 (HP-UX 11i v3), but I need to determine which SCSI addresses are available on
the host system.

Can anyone provide some assistance?

Thanks,
GBR

Re: SCSI Addresses

Shalom,

run ioscan on the system to see what addresses are in use.

Choose address settings on the 2120 that do not conflict with whats already installed.

Re: SCSI Addresses

OK, so, I assume you mean DS2110s? Right? These are where superdomes link to there boot disks. If boot disks, like with superdomes, you'll have two scsi controllers, call them c0 and c2, and you'll have to locate them on your box. Run two scsi cable, one per controller, to the DS2120. One cable for the left bay, one for the right bay. One disk in each bay for primary and alternate boot disk. I.e, c0t2d0, and c2t2d0. Else, if you use one scsi controller and put both disks in the left bay then you'll have a spof, even though you have two different scsi device files. I.e, c0t2d1 and c0t2d0. The DS2120 works off its own backplane for hot pluggable SCSI disks. The backplane pre orders the target addresses.

Re: SCSI Addresses

See if this helps, this link explains how to set the switches on the array.

All you need are the available SCSI addresses on the SCSI controller that you will attach the 2120 not the whole system. There will be no conflict with SCSI devices with the same SCSI ID on other SCSI buses. As mentioned ioscan will give you that information.

Re: SCSI Addresses

After working with the SCSI cables and the DS2120 a bit longer.. ioscan is exactly what I needed to use to determine the addresses. Thanks all.
