SCSI query tape device - equivalent to scu in Tru64
SCSI query tape device - equivalent to scu in Tru64
This is a SCSI command level shell that allows you to query a device giving its target bus lun.
You get a lot of useful hardware information.
Or for that matter a HPUX command that allows me to see the error counters for a tape device, tape alert flags.
Again Tru64 there was 'hwmgr'
Basically I am trying to see why my Netbackup software keeps placing the tape device attached to this server in a DOWN state. Netbackup logs show not much info, looking to see if the OS can give me any more.
Thanks for help.

Re: SCSI query tape device - equivalent to scu in Tru64
you can run the online diagnostics on the tape drive (stm) for detailed infos.
You can have an even deeper look with the library and tape tools (LTT):
http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools
or
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

What is the output of:
# ioscan -knfC tape
I am also from a Tru64 background.
ioscan is something simular to hwmgr (and scu), but has no complete functionality of hwmgr.
