SD-UX

Dear Sirs,

How SD-UX is related with HP-UX ? Was it added later on or it existed since the begining ? What are the software tools are included with this ?

Thanks,

Re: SD-UX

Hi Shiv,

SD-UX is Software distributor, a set of commands and services for managing softwares on HP-UX servers and work stations.

Software Distributor commands are included with the HP-UX operating system and, by default, manage software on a local host only. You can also enable remote operations, which let you install and manage software simultaneously on multiple remote hosts connected to a central controller.

Re: SD-UX

Shalom Shiv,

Once again hoping you are well.

SD/UX is part of HP-UX, proprietary. Its an excellent database for keeping track of what SD/UX formatted installations you have on your system.

Nobody else uses it, so its not complete.

Oracle does not use it.

If you have the time, its possible for you to package up all your software and do all your installations with SD/UX which include the toolset swinstall/swremove/swlist/swverify/swpackage plus a bunch I probably know nothing about.

Rule of thumb here: If its got the name UX in it, its an integral part of the HP-UX operating system.
