SNMP MRTG TEMP, CPU, MEMORY

I am running several Tru64 servers, mainly 4.0G and 5.1A. I am running Red Hat Liunx as my MRTG server and can monitor traffic, cpu, memory, process, connections, and temperature on my 4.0G servers with no problems at all.

But when I try to use the same MIBS on a 5.1A server I only get back readings for number of connections and traffic on ethernet.

I am assuming that it has somthing to do with the OS version. Can anyone help me with this as I can find no info and have already RTFM many times :)

Are all the mib-agents running on the V5.1A systems ?

/usr/sbin/snmpd
/usr/sbin/insightd
/usr/sbin/svrMgt_mib
/usr/sbin/svrSystem_mib
( /usr/sbin/clu_mibs )
/usr/sbin/os_mibs
/usr/sbin/cpq_mibs
/usr/sbin/cpqthresh_mib

Are all parmeters defined the same in /etc/snmpd.conf ?

Are the CPQIM subsets installed in one of these environments ?
ls /usr/.smdb./CPQIM*.lk

Johan,

All servers are running al of those processes and daemons, excep the 4.0G's are not running insightd, actually none of them were until this morning when I started insightd on the 5.1A's, and it made no difference.

THe two 5.1A's are showing some weird activity at around 11Pm they started showing processes in the MRTG RRDTOOL graphs but then immediately stopped showing processes after a reboot, very strange.

As for this:

ls /usr/.smdb./CPQIM*.lk

None of them have that running or installed, neither the 4.0G's or the 5.1A's.

OK, let's see if a V4.0G system can interrogate a snmp-MIB on a V5.1A system.
To that purpose use the command:

/usr/sbin/snmp_request public getnext -t 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.2.1.3

If you know the OID-tree you are interested in use it's number instead of the one in my example.

The result looks like:

So snmp seems OK on the V5.1A system, did you check for mrtg errors in /var/log/mrtg.log ?

I found the following template in the comp.unix.tru64 news archives for creating a working CPU usage template:

/usr/bin/cfgmaker --host-template=cpu.CPQ.template

and cpu.CPQ.template contains

Thank you so much for your help so far, I have gotten the CPU to work on 5.1A systems now.

Any idea where I should look for memory, temp and disk space mibs, so that I can monitor these as well.

So far I have everything working on the 4.0G servers and on the 5.1A server I have:

ethernet
connections
CPU0
CPU1
